What brought you to Baltimore? I moved to Baltimore in March 2015 to work at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. I’ve lived in both Mount Vernon (currently) and Federal Hill. I spend a lot of my free time attending events around Baltimore, as well as writing for my blog, StylishlyTaylored.com.
What do you like about Baltimore? I enjoy the people I’ve met in Baltimore; I think Charm City is uniquely friendly for an east coast city. It’s a decent-sized city with a tight-knit community, an appealing dichotomy for someone who is looking for more professional and social opportunities, but also wants to feel connected to their coworkers, neighbors, baristas, etc.
New Baltimoreans should definitely check out: One of my favorite events that I’ve attended in Baltimore is Ryes Up Against Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Hosted by the Baltimore Bartenders Guild, the event brings together food and bar programs from across the city to display their culinary skills and innovative cocktails using rye whiskey with proceeds benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The paramount diversity, quality, and creativity of the food industry in Baltimore is one of the reasons I’ve grown to love this city, and this event is the intersection of my professional life, working in a research lab that studies cystic fibrosis, with my social life. Ryes Up Against CF gives attendees a chance to dress up and enjoy themselves while giving back to a great organization and worthy cause.
